After enforcing your initial profiles, you can start looking for ways to improve your energy savings and administration processes.
Incorporating power management into patch management
You can build power schemes and scheduled tasks into your patch maintenance routine, so that computers are awake only when necessary to receive software updates.
For information, see Best Practice: Implementing power management with patch management.
Managing open applications during power state changes
End users leave open documents on their computers all the time. When SURVEYOR is scheduled to shut down clients, many open applications cannot save and close documents until a user confirms the action. This prevents the computer from properly shutting down as scheduled.
SURVEYOR profiles include a Power State Transition Manager, which you can configure to gracefully shut down applications that would otherwise keep computers awake. For details, see Managing open applications during power state changes.
