Note: This topic applies to Surveyor agent version 6.0.4xx and later. For help on configuring EnergyWise in Surveyor for versions 6.0xx -6.0.3xx, see the Verdiem Knowledgebase or contact Verdiem support.
You enable support for EnergyWise devices using the general steps described in the following table. These steps links to other topics that contain the details about completing each step.
| Step | Task | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Configure the EnergyWise domain structure and enable the switches that are domain members. NOTE: It is recommended that you perform this step before installing Surveyor. | You configure the EnergyWise domain using the command-line interface (CLI). For detailed information on creating and configuring EnergyWise domains, see the Cisco EnergyWise Configuration Guide on Cisco.com. For a list of supported Cisco devices, see Cisco IOS Release Notes for Cisco EnergyWise, EnergyWise Version 2.7 and EnergyWise devices supported in Surveyor 6. For details on security options, see Tips on installing the Surveyor agent to join a Cisco EnergyWise domain. NOTE: It is recommended that you set the time on your switches to the system time of the machine running the EnergyWise proxy server. This will help to ensure that events and reporting information coincide with policy-triggered actions on the switch. EnergyWise proxy servers should be set up to manage switches located in the same time zone. It is also recommended that you enable Save queries to ensure that EnergyWise states persist between power cycles, and that you save the configuration file whenever you make any changes to it. |
| 2 | Install the Surveyor server components. | The default installation includes the Surveyor server, database, and EnergyWise services. For details, see Installing the Surveyor server components. |
| 3 | Install the Surveyor agent on PCs using the default settings. | The default installation configures firewall rules on agents to allow PC clients to automatically join EnergyWise domains. For details, see Install the Surveyor Windows client agent from the setup program or Install or uninstall Surveyor Windows agent from the command line. The default setting that allows PC clients to automatically join EnergyWise domains is CONFIGFIREWALL. If not specified (blank), or any value other than False is specified, the installer will attempt to configure the firewall rules to allow PC clients to join EnergyWise domains. |
| 4 | Edit the EnergyWise domain information in the EnergyWise configuration file. | To edit this file, use the EnergyWise Proxy Configuration Editor (Edit the EnergyWise configuration file using the EnergyWise Proxy Configuration Editor). To allow Windows PC agents to automatically join an EnergyWise domain, the option Surveyor Agents Can Join must be selected in the EnergyWise Proxy Configuration Editor settings. NOTE: EnergyWise domain information is saved in the web.configfile in C:\Program Files\Verdiem\Surveyor\EnergyWiseProvisioningService.. |
