Verdiem Named "Company to Watch" by Forrester Research

New report recognizes SURVEYOR software for optimizing power management and driving efficiency into businesses worldwide

SEATTLE - April 21, 2008 - Verdiem, the leading developer of power management software for PC networks, has been named a "Hot Company to Watch in 2008" by Forrester Research. This exclusive short list highlights innovative companies that Forrester recommends should be considered in IT strategy planning based on unique business models, growth potential and relevance to broader technology markets.

"Verdiem was chosen for its innovative SURVEYOR software that reduces power consumption in an organization, eliminating IT energy waste while reducing costs and driving efficiency," said Chris Mines, senior vice president of Vendor Strategy at Forrester Research. "Green IT solutions, like SURVEYOR, help companies demonstrate environmental responsibility with the IT department taking the lead as Green Hero."

According to the report:

SURVEYOR optimizes power management, turning computers off or switches them to low-power settings, while still ensuring critical functions such as security upgrades take place. This can result in cost savings for IT organizations, particularly when power is effectively managed during peak energy use hours (when energy costs are at their highest). Environmentally-conscious IT organizations are realizing that their environmental initiatives also address a longstanding IT mandate - reducing costs and driving efficiencies. As organizations realize that "going green" can result in some significant cost savings, expect more green IT initiatives to take place.

"We are very pleased by this recognition and believe it reflects the increasing number of enterprise IT departments pursuing green initiatives," said Kevin Klustner, CEO of Verdiem. "We strongly believe that green IT should be a component of today's enterprise organization and Forrester's recognition validates the industry's interest and new focus on energy efficiency."

Power management software not only reduces energy costs and helps eliminate IT energy waste, but empowers companies to achieve environmental sustainability faster and in a measurable, sustainable way. Equally important, SURVEYOR reduces energy consumption by an average of 200 KWH per PC annually, equal to a 30 percent reduction in network energy use. In an organization with 10,000 PCs, SURVEYOR results in a carbon dioxide savings equal to taking 220 mid-sized cars off the road for an entire year.
