Green Print GreenPrint is a simple piece of software which eliminates waste associated with printing (most notably that last page with just the URL, banner ad, or legal jargon) saving time, toner, and money while also saving trees, reducing greenhouse gasses, and decreasing waste. If all new computers sold in 2006 used GreenPrint over 36 million trees would be saved, CO2 emissions would be reduced by over 117 million tons – that's the equivalent of removing 23 million cars from the road for an entire year! GreenPrint estimates that would save the average Fortune 500 company $2 million and 4,000 trees annually.

Shortly after its launch in November 2006, the company received a very positive review in The Wall Street Journal by Walt Mossberg as well as a segment on CNBC (links below). GreenPrint has also been endorsed by American Forests, The National Arbor Day Foundation and a number of other conservation organizations.

80 PLUS 80 PLUS® is an innovative, electric utility-funded incentive program to integrate more energy-efficient power supplies into desktop computers and servers. Power supplies are the devices that convert AC power from electric utilities into DC power used in most electronics. 80 PLUS certified power supplies are substantially more efficient than typical power supplies, and can save 85 kWh per desktop per year, and 300 kWh per server per year.

To date, over 550 power supplies have been certified and approximately 50 local and major computer manufacturers, including Dell and Hewlett-Packard, are selling qualified computers. The most recent ENERGY STAR® computer specification (Version 4.0), which went into effect July 2007, includes 80 PLUS power supply efficiency levels for desktop computers. In keeping with its pursuit of clean and efficient technologies, the Alliance has provided Verdiem with significant funding, marketing, and strategic support. Find out more about the Alliance and its programs at www.nwalliance.org.

"Verdiem is an excellent example of how the Alliance works with private industry to develop market-transforming projects. With their SURVEYOR Network Energy Manager, this innovative company will improve the energy efficiency of PC networks in the Northwest, allowing IT managers to take control of one of the fastest-growing sources of energy consumption in the commercial sector."
—Margie Gardner, Executive Director of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance

Rebuild America is a program of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) that focuses on energy-savings solutions as community solutions. Rebuild America began in 1994 with the mission to accelerate energy-efficiency improvements in existing commercial, institutional and multi-family residential buildings through private-public partnerships created at the community level. Today Rebuild America is helping communities across the country sort though an often overwhelming array of options for building improvements, and develop and implement an action plan that meets their needs.

Verdiem is a Rebuild America Business Partner, educating the organization's community partners on the energy waste in PC networks and the viable solutions that are available to end it. Learn more about the DOE's Rebuild America program through www.rebuild.gov.

The Bonneville Power Administration operates one of the most reliable transmission grids in the world. BPA markets electricity at cost from 31 federally owned dams, one nuclear plant and a large wind energy program to Northwest utilities. BPA has a rich and varied history of providing valuable energy efficiency services to consumers throughout the Pacific Northwest. Over the last 20 years BPA, working with public utilities, State and local governments, and private firms has brought energy efficiency improvements to hundreds of thousands of homes, thousands of commercial buildings, over four hundred industrial plants, and numerous agricultural systems.

BPA offers many energy efficiency incentives including the Conservation and Renewables Discount Program (C&RD). C&RD is a credit available to BPA regional wholesale power customers taking action to further conservation and renewable resource development in the region. Numerous regional utilities have used this incentive program to facilitate SURVEYOR deployments including:
  • McMinnville Water and Power
  • Columbia River Public Utility District
  • Seattle City Light
  • Snohomish Public Utility District

San Diego Gas & Electric is a regulated public utility providing electric service to 3 million consumers through 1.3 million electric meters and 789,000 natural gas meters in San Diego and southern Orange counties. SDG&E's service area encompasses 4,100 square miles, covering two counties and 25 cities.

SURVEYOR currently qualifies for an SDG&E custom incentive program designed to permanently remove energy draw from the grid. For information about this program and others, refer to the SDG&E website at www.sdge.com.

San Diego Regional Energy Office (SDREO) is an independent, public-benefit, non-profit corporation that provides objective information, research, analysis and long-term planning on energy issues for the San Diego region. SDREO also serves as a critical link between consumers and government and is currently managing over $30 million in public funds through a variety of rebate, incentive and education programs.

SDREO offers support for SURVEYOR by providing incentives to public sector customers through a program titled the Local Government Energy Efficiency Program (LGEEP). The incentive amount is based on the total kilowatts saved.

The Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE), a nonprofit public benefits corporation, develops national initiatives to promote the manufacture and purchase of energy-efficient products and services. CEE's goal is to induce lasting structural and behavioral changes in the marketplace, resulting in the increased adoption of energy-efficient technologies.

CEE members include electric, gas and water utilities; research and development organizations; state energy offices; and regional energy programs. Both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) provide major support.

CEE has published Verdiem case studies highlighting the energy-saving benefits of SURVEYOR.

The mission of the Oregon Department of Energy (ODE) is to ensure Oregon has an adequate supply of reliable and affordable energy and is safe from nuclear contamination, by helping Oregonians save energy, develop clean energy resources, promote renewable energy, and clean up nuclear waste.

ODE encourages investments in conservation and renewable resources by offering tax credits, loans, rebates, and grants. Additionally, under the Senate Bill 1149, ODE can help schools cut energy costs with a suite of services that includes implementation of SURVEYOR. Typically, the cost of SURVEYOR is completely covered by the SB 1149 funds. Both Portland Public Schools and Beaverton Public Schools have utilized the SB 1149 funds to fully pay for SURVEYOR deployment in their school systems.
